FRUIT TREE PLANTING FOUNDATION TO BRING FRUIT TREE ORCHARD TO SUISUN CITY IN GROUNDBREAKING EFFORT FOR A GREENER, HEALTHIER FUTURE

Suisun City, CA — Fruit Tree Planting Foundation (FTPF) & Suisun City Recreation, Parks, and Marina (RPM) Department are proud to announce a special community event in Suisun City as part of an ambitious statewide effort to plant life-sustaining orchards and distribute hundreds of fruit trees across California. In partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation and UPS, FTPF will host a tree planting at Prosperity Garden Park on Thursday, May 29 at 9:00am, bringing a long-term source of free, fresh fruit and environmental benefits to local residents.

This event is part of FTPF’s Fruitful Fifty initiative, which aims to create fruitful communities in every state. Thanks to support from the Arbor Day Foundation and UPS, Prosperity Garden Park will soon feature a vibrant orchard with a variety of trees that may include apples, pears, plums, peaches, citrus, pomegranates, guavas, and loquats—offering sustainable harvests for years to come.

In addition to planting an orchard at the park, a limited amount of fruit trees will be distributed directly to area residents, along with planting instructions and arboricultural training. Community members will be empowered to plant and care for their own trees at home, promoting improved nutrition, cleaner air, and greener neighborhoods citywide.  For those unable to attend the tree planting at 9:00am on May 29, there will be a second tree giveaway at 5:00pm for any remaining fruit trees, along with an arboricultural training from FTPF.

“These orchards will provide communities in California with sustainable harvest, increasing access to healthy nutrition and cleaning the surrounding air, soil, and water—creating a model that any household can achieve in their own yards after receiving trees to take home,” said Cem Akin, FTPF’s Tree-EO. “The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation is honored to collaborate with Arbor Day Foundation and UPS to collectively provide a source of sustainable, organic, perennial nutrition for local families.”

The Suisun City planting is one of five events across California, including in San Diego, Anaheim, and Redding, that together will see the planting and distribution of 650 fruit trees.

“The Arbor Day Foundation is dedicated to helping our local planting partners unlock the transformative power of trees and orchards in their community,” said Dan Lambe, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. “Trees clean our air, cool our cities and improve the lives of the people around them. We’re happy to partner with The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation to maximize the impact of urban orchards and inspire more people to benefit and engage with nature in a meaningful way.”

“We’re excited to partner with The Fruit Tree Planting Foundation, Arbor Day Foundation, and UPS to expand our new community garden,” said Janet Hull, Director of Suisun City Recreation, Parks, and Marina Department.  “These fruit trees will provide long-term benefits to our residents by increasing access to fresh fruit and enhancing the environment in our community garden and benefitting Suisun City for years to come.”

Community members are invited to join the planting festivities at Prosperity Garden Park on May 29 at 9:00am and help grow a greener, more fruitful future.  Prosperity Garden Park is located on Blossom Avenue in Suisun City, directly across from the McCoy Creek Trail entrance.
