The Training Division promotes the development of community service through the application of ongoing evolutions and cognitive exercises that simulate real-life firefighting experiences. The division’s mission is to help prepare employees to be successful in their careers by providing useful tools and practices to facilitate success at emergency incidents. Teamwork safety is the division’s unyielding objective. Department training must stay abreast of all pertinent federal, state, county and local municipal mandates and share vital information with all employees. The Training Division is supervised by the Division Chief of Training. Additionally, all Advanced Life Support (ALS) training is facilitated by a staff Captain paramedic. Yearly training encompasses: required OSHA policies and programs; EMS skills for both BLS and ALS employees; Engineer skills; hotel / commercial building strategy and tactics; special operations training (LARRO, USAR, Rescue Boat, Swift Water, trench, confined space, and rope rescue); auto extrication; fireground operations; wildland operations; active shooter scenarios; elevator operations; and fire command procedure and protocol.
