In light of safety repairs taking place at the Joseph A Nelson Community Center the week of June 23, Suisun City will now hold its 2025 State of the City event on Wednesday, July 2 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Joseph A Nelson Community Center. The State of the City was previously scheduled for Wednesday, June 25 at the Community Center. The city is rescheduling this important event to ensure the hosting facilities are dependably operational for the safety and convenience of our guests and to avoid any technological interruptions during the event. The State of the City itinerary and amenities remain unchanged. Light refreshments and child care services will be provided. We invite our community to engage with city leadership and staff and to hear updates on Suisun City’s achievements, current challenges and pathway forward. “I am thrilled to share our vision for the future at our State of the City event,” said Suisun City Vice Mayor Jenalee Dawson. “Suisun City is on the cusp of a transformation — one that embraces innovation and out-of-the-box thinking to drive sustainable economic growth. Our plans are bold and forward-looking, ensuring that our community remains vibrant and economically viable for generations to come.” The evening will be led by Mayor Alma Hernandez and Vice Mayor Jenalee Dawson, who will deliver a presentation on the state of the city, followed by a question-and-answer session with the community. Topics addressed will include public safety, the city budget and local economic outlook, downtown revitalization and annexation and homelessness and infrastructure updates. Measure S Chair Ruth Forney will also share an update on Measure S funding.
City Manager Bret Prebula and department heads will be present to discuss and answer questions about city services, projects and priorities. Attendees will be able to visit informational tables to learn more about the city’s committees and commissions and the Suisun City Clean Team. “Together, we are laying the groundwork for a future where Suisun City is not just a place to live and work, but a thriving hub of innovation and opportunity,” Vice Mayor Dawson continued. “We invite everyone to join us on this exciting journey as we pave the way for a prosperous and sustainable future.” We look forward to this opportunity to keep our residents informed of Suisun City’s progress and engage with the community.
