Suisun City’s recent State of Business Luncheon was a tremendous success, bringing together business leaders, educators, elected officials and community stakeholders for a meaningful and energizing conversation about the city’s economic future.

Hosted at the Joseph A. Nelson Community Center and presented by the Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce, the event created an important forum for discussing the opportunities, challenges and partnerships shaping Suisun City and the greater Solano County region. The luncheon featured a diverse panel representing local government, higher education and business, with discussion centered on economic vitality, regional collaboration and long-term community success.

A major focus of the event was the importance of workforce development and the growing partnership between the business community and educational institutions. Panelists discussed the need to better connect students, training programs and local industries so that the region can cultivate a workforce prepared for future jobs and emerging economic opportunities. The conversation highlighted how collaboration between employers, colleges, universities and other educational partners is essential to creating clear pathways into careers, strengthening the local talent pipeline and supporting sustainable economic growth.

With the theme “Honoring the Past, Advancing the Present, Building the Future,” the luncheon reflected both Suisun City’s rich history and its growing momentum. Discussions throughout the event reinforced that Suisun City is actively shaping a thoughtful future grounded in innovation, partnership and a strong commitment to community prosperity.

The event also underscored the importance of creating a stronger local economy that directly benefits residents by supporting entrepreneurship, attracting investment, expanding workforce opportunities and fostering the kinds of jobs, services and amenities that help communities thrive. The strong response to the event demonstrated a high level of regional interest in Suisun City’s future and the value of continuing these conversations in a public setting.

“This event reflected the enthusiasm, partnership and forward-thinking spirit that are helping define Suisun City’s next chapter,” said Mayor Alma Hernandez. “It was encouraging to see leaders from business, education and government come together around a shared commitment to economic opportunity, workforce development and long-term success for Suisun City.”

Suisun City extends its appreciation to the Fairfield-Suisun Chamber of Commerce, the panelists, attendees and all those who helped make the event possible. Their participation helped create a dynamic and productive dialogue about the future of business in Suisun City and the broader region.

As Suisun City continues working to strengthen its local economy and support strategic growth, the State of Business Luncheon served as an important reminder that the city’s future is being shaped by collaboration, vision and a shared commitment to progress.
