Facade Improvement Grant for Suisun Businesses

Suisun City created the Facade Improvement Grant for Suisun Businesses to

  • Enhance storefront facades
  • Entice customers
  • Reinvest in Downtown Suisun City

The City is committed to bringing new economic vitality to Suisun City Businesses through high-quality facades, well-designed storefronts, and signage to ensure the long-term quality and value.

The FIGSB Program was designed specifically to provide assistance to business owners struggling to maintain and improve their storefronts.

What funding is available?

The City will provide 50% matching grants of up to $7,500 to businesses and property owners as a financial incentive to improve their building facades.

Business owners must apply for the grant, describe the improvements being considered, and have the improvements approved by the Economic Development Division. The work can be completed by the business owner or by a contractor hired by the business owner to conduct specific work on the property.  Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.

There is no reimbursement for work performed prior to grant approval by the Development Services Department.

What improvements are eligible?

Almost any work that improves the street appeal of a business storefront or solves a City Code violation is eligible under the program. Examples of suitable work include:

  • Exterior Paint
  • Signs, Awnings, and Canopies
  • Windows and window treatments
  • Exterior Doors
  • Exterior Lighting for façade only (attached to building)
  • Roof repair if required in conjunction with façade improvement work
  • Improvement and removal of safety grilles
  • Rehabilitation of historic features
  • Exterior landscaping/ planters
  • Compliance with the Americans with disabilities Act (ADA)

Other improvements may be considered on a case by case basis.

Who is eligible?

Applicant may be either an owner of, or tenant within, a proposed project. If the applicant is a tenant, the owner must also sign the FIGSB application. FIGSB is intended for retail/ service businesses, but other business types (non-profit/ cultural, offices, etc.) may be considered on a case-by-case basis. If selected to participate, applicant must agree to all the terms in the FIGSB Agreement.

How do I apply for the program?

Download the application using the link above to access a pdf file or pick up from City Hall during regular business hours. Submit completed applications with attached documentation to Sajuti Rahman, Economic Development Analyst, 701 Civic Center Blvd., Suisun City, Calif. 94585.

Applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis.
