There’s a new Police Chief in town. Aaron Roth started work this week as Chief of Police for the City of Suisun City. Chief Roth was the second in command with the City of Martinez Police Department before being hired as Chief in Suisun City. In addition to nearly twenty years of police experience, Chief Roth has a Master’s in Public Administration, a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Academy and the Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute.
“We are pleased to welcome Chief Roth to our Suisun City team,” said Greg Folsom, City Manager. “Chief Roth joins a well-run, busy department and we are looking forward to his leadership in moving the department to greater levels of excellence,” said Folsom.
“As the Mayor of a diverse city, who we hired as the Police Chief was of the utmost importance,” said Mayor Lori Wilson. “I am excited to welcome Chief Roth to the Suisun City family. I believe he is the right person to continue the excellent work of our police department and keep our neighborhoods safe,” added Mayor Wilson.
Chief Roth will have his ceremonial swearing in at a City Council meeting later this year when his entire family is able to attend.
Approximately 80 people attended the ground breaking ceremony held Monday (July 1) to celebrate the beginning of construction on the newest hotel in downtown Suisun City. The new Holiday Inn Express, located at 355 Civic Center Blvd., is expected to take around 14 months to finish construction, and should be completed by the end of next summer.
City Manager, Greg Folsom, Mayor Lori Wilson, Supervisor Jim Spering, and the project developer, Camran Nojoomi, each discussed the impact and importance of this project to the future of Suisun City as a part of the ceremony.
“The new Holiday Inn Express will be a 57,00 square foot, four-story building, with 83 rooms, an indoor pool, a fitness center, two meeting rooms and many other amenities,” said City Manager Greg Folsom. “This project is a catalyst project that will help to drive future development downtown.”
“This is the first of many projects that we hope to have in downtown Suisun City,” said Mayor Lori Wilson. “I hope to have four or five gold shovels on the wall by the end of my first term as Mayor.”
On April 2, 2019, the Suisun City Council adopted an urgency ordinance and Council policy to create local regulations over Small Wireless Facilities (SWFs or Small Cell Sites) used to deploy 5G wireless technology that the Federal government has deemed appropriate for existing public infrastructure, such as light poles and other vertical elements.
