Suisun City Announces Application Period for City Council Vacancy

The Suisun City Council is accepting applications for the Council vacancy created by the resignation of Councilmember Mike Hudson. Councilmember Hudson’s term would have expired in 2024. The person chosen to fill the vacancy will serve the remainder of the term.

All the applicants from the last vacancy appointment process, who are still available and interested, will be considered, along with any new applicants. Previous round applicants do not need to submit new applications.

In order to qualify for appointment to Council, an applicant must be at least 18 years of age, must be a registered voter, and must be a resident of Suisun City. Applications must be completed and received by the City Clerk between Monday, February 27, 2023 and Friday, March 10, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. No late applications will be accepted. 

The Mayor will review all applications and interview no more than eight applicants from the pool of available candidates. Interviews can start before the deadline for filing applications. The Mayor will choose no more than three from the pool of interviewed applicants who will be interviewed by the whole Council on March 21, 2023 at the City Council’s regular meeting. Following deliberations and consensus, the Mayor will appoint one individual to the vacant seat, with Council consent.
