We've Prepared

The Suisun City Public Works Operations Division has taken a number of steps to prepare the City's infrastructure ahead of the storms season.

  • Crews have inspected problem flood areas and cleared debris to minimize storm drain blockages.
  • Sandbags were delivered to the parking lot behind Police Headquarters. Crews will replenish that supply as needed.
  • The Street Crew has systematically cleaned the storm basins within the City and prepared drainage ditches along the north side of Old Railroad Ave. to enhance its capacity.
  • All equipped has been inspected and prepped for deployment, including pumps, hoses and generators.
  • Crews are prepared for regular patrols and inspections of known hotspots during storm events to identify potential flooding early and focus the appropriate attention to prevent flooding problems.
  • Additional "Flood Watch" procedures, including increased street patrols, will be activated as events warrant.

Both the Suisun City Police and Fire departments are prepared to respond to any emergency situation that may arise during the storms.

What Residents Can Do

All Suisun City residents should use caution during periods of heavy weather.

  • Stay away from flood control channels. Rushing water is extremely dangerous.
  • Patrol your property looking for debris clogging drainage systems. Remove the debris as necessary.
  • Collect and properly dispose of heavy leaf falls on your property to minimize the risk of localized flooding.
  • Remove leaves collected in street gutters.
  • Use sandbags and plastic sheeting to protect flood-prone entrances to your home before the rains begin.
  • Do not engage in any corrective actions that would pose a risk to your health or safety. Call for help!
  • Drive slowly and carefully.
  • Stay tuned to local radio and television news sources for the latest weather information. KUIC (95.3 FM) is the main local station carrying Solano County's emergency notices.
