PROJECT UPDATE (Updated June 16, 2011) Construction crews are expected to begin major road way work following the July 4 Independence Day holiday and community celebration. That work will involve removing and replacing the road surface. This work has been delayed due to weather conditions, and the City's desire to cause as little disruption as possible to businesses and residents most impacted. Crews are addressing trip hazards and barricaded areas with temporary measures to bridge the weather delay. The Main Street Rehabilitation Project is located on In general, the project includes:
This project is funded with a $670,000 grant through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009 (ARRA). Another $20,000 in local transportation funds were dedicated for contingency costs, should they arise. The project is being constructed by Argonaut Constructors of Santa Rosa. >>BACK TO TOP>> During the entire construction period, Argonaut Constructors is required to maintain two-way traffic on Main Street, and work with local businesses that are most directly impacted to maintain customer access. However, some unavoidable traffic controls, delays and possible detours are to be expected during the construction period. To limit the impact to nearby residents, all work is to be conducted between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Work hours or times may be extended for construction conflicts or emergencies. Regular bus, garbage and mail services will not be disrupted. Electronic sign boards are posted on Main Street with construction hours and contact phone number. Because this project includes changes to the sidewalk and curb in front of the Veterans' Hall, Suisun City Public Works is coordinating its efforts with the Solano County Division of Architectural Services. The street, curb and sidewalk improvements installed by the City as part of the Main Street Rehabilitation Project will mesh seamlessly with the County's work on the Veterans' Hall. As information on the Veterans' Hall project becomes available, we'll provide a link here. >>BACK TO TOP>> |
