About Suisun City Economic Development

The Office of Economic Development is housed within the Suisun City Redevelopment Agency. The agency is overseen by the Redevelopment Agency Board, which consists of the sitting members of the City Council.

The mission of the Office of Economic Development is to

  • Pursue economically feasible development projects to expand Suisun City's economic base
  • Encourage the location of job-generating businesses to the City
  • Assist local businesses to help them succeed
  • Protect neighborhoods from blight and blight-inducing effects
  • Create a distinctive community profile for Suisun City

The Office of Economic Development is engaged in a high volume of exciting projects designed to significantly improve Suisun City's economy.

Those efforts include

  • The Main Street West Project: Working with master developer under existing development agreement, complete the transformation of the Waterfront District through a variety of mixed use and resident products on 14 sites, including
    • 34,000-square-foot Harbor Square mixed use anchor project.
    • Waterfront dinner house and banquet facility.
    • Redeveloping former school site as single family homes.
    • Developing additional housing and infill commercial projects.
  • Hampton Inn & Suites: Facilitate the construction of 102-room waterfront hotel.
  • Sunset Avenue 8-acre site: Work with national developer to build commercial/hotel project.
  • Civic Center Blvd. project: Work with developer to redevelop former public facility property for waterview housing.

Economic Development staff also engages in a wide range of marketing and promotional efforts, including attendance at major conferences and putting on nearly 40 Waterfront District public events.

Economic Development staff members also work with members of the existing business communtiy to improve and expand this vital base as the foundation for the city's continued economic growth.
