Suisun City:
A 21st Century waterfront community honoring its past

Suisun City has embraced the promise of the future by not forgetting the distinctive small-town qualities that makes the City one of Northern California's most distinctive communities. Using the pedestrian-friendly philosophy of New Urbanism and the architectural styles consistent with our history, Suisun City has created a unique, vibrant historic downtown and waterfront that has become a national showcase.

We're proud of our public promenades and plazas lining Suisun Channel that invite people to linger and enjoy our natural setting and local shops. We've worked hard to create a climate where small business owners can thrive in revolutionary new live/work buildings overlooking the water, such as those of Promenade, and historic buildings along Main Street.

New restaurants and other retail businesses are springing up along the waterfront. The Suisun Harbor Conservatory Theatre, the city's first performing arts theater, is downtown offering dramatic arts programs run by the Harbor Theatrical Group in collaboration with Solano Community College Drama Department. The historic rail station at the head of Main Street is a multimodal transit hub tying together local transit, Greyhound and Amtrak's Capitol Corridor service used daily by both visitors and commuters.

The Old Town waterfront is Solano County's most popular family gathering and entertainment spot in Solano County. Thousands of local residents and visitors come to Harbor Plaza for a wide variety of events, such as the Summer Jazz Concert Series, the Open Market, Fourth of July, the Waterfront Festival, Christmas in Old Town, Harbor Bike Races, Children's Halloween Parade and many others.

We continue to build on our vision and success in recreating the bustling, old-fashioned town of Suisun City's heyday. There are many unique opportunities for those wishing to be a part of this exciting environment. Retail, office and residential sites are available and the city is ready to assist with these projects.

Explore our Web site to discover more about this great and vibrant city. New efforts, initiatives and opportunities are available nearly every day as we build a 21st Century future while honoring our history.
