Up coming projects

SUISUN CITY - In the past five years, the Suisun City Public Works Department has resurfaced nearly 200 street segments representing more than 60% of the total road surface in Suisun City. The focus has resulted in a 20-point increase in the measured quality of our streets.

This summer’s Street Improvement Program will focus on significant repairs to Main Street and Chryl Way, both of which require substantial work.

Main Street Rehabilitation Project
Starting after July 4, crews will repair portions of Main Street that are subsiding between Solano Street and Lotz Way. The work will include reconstructing the street pavement, most of the sidewalk on the east side of the street and pedestrian ramps. The entire length of street also will be resurfaced and restriped.

The $670,000 project is being paid for entirely through American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grants. Suisun City initially received $170,000 for the project. Shortly thereafter, an additional $500,000 was reallocated to the Main Street project by the Solano Transportation Authority after a Fairfield project left a sizable remainder.

This is the second ARRA-funded project in Suisun City. The Sunset Avenue Rehabilitation Project received $700,000 to replace sidewalk ramps, repair the road surface, repave Sunset Avenue from Highway 12 to Railroad Avenue, and upgrade the crosswalks.

As it did with the Sunset project, Public Works will coordinate the Main Street work closely with local merchants to ensure continuous access to their businesses, and work around scheduled Waterfront District events. Staff also is coordinating with Solano County’s efforts to upgrade the Veteran’s Hall to avoid duplication of effort and create seamless public improvements.

Chryl Way Sewer Project
Chryl Way will see a lot of improvements before the end of the year through the continuing partnership between the City and the Suisun-Solano Water Authority.

Residents along this street will have their water main replaced as part of the ongoing Solano Irrigation District water main upgrade program, and two sections of sewer repaired by the City.

Working with the Suisun City Public Works Department, the roadway will be entirely repaved after all the utility work is completed. Construction is expected in late summer or early fall.
